Fundraising Fundamentals — Lesson 3: Inside the Room
This is The Build Log, the weekly fundraising series from The AI-Native Founder. New here? Start with Lesson 1.
It is Tuesday night and your first real partner meeting is Thursday at ten. The dossier your pipeline researcher built says the fund led two deals in your space last year and that the partner you met likes founders who “know their numbers cold.” So you are on slide seven at 11pm, rehearsing the market-size line for the ninth time, because that is what a technical founder does with fear: turns it into preparation for the wrong test.
The test on Thursday is not whether you can present. Here is what this lesson gives you: the actual mechanics of how a fund decides after you leave the room, the two things you control inside it, and a prep-and-debrief pair of agents that make every meeting you take sharper than the last one.
