The Boundless Stack Compared With Other Claude Code Toolkits for Founders

Claude Code can load skills, agents and hooks from anyone. Most of the well-known collections are built for engineers. The Boundless Stack is built for the founder's job. Here's how they line up, from each project's own README or docs, read on 29 September 2026.

The short answer

The Boundless Stack is a set of 59 Claude Code skills, 12 commands, 9 agents and 7 hooks that turn Claude into a structured startup advisor across the founder journey, from readiness and validation to growth and fundraising. Most other Claude Code toolkits are built for engineering work: gstack gives a founder a virtual engineering team, Superpowers is a software development methodology, and the large template and plugin collections are developer component libraries.

  • The Stack is the only toolkit on this list whose skills are about the company (validate the idea, scope the MVP, prep the fundraise) rather than the code.
  • gstack is the closest neighbour: founder-friendly, but its roles are CEO review, engineering review, QA and shipping.
  • Superpowers, Claude Code Templates and the wshobson marketplace are for developers, and they say so.
  • Nothing stops you running the Stack next to any of them; every enabled skill costs context on every turn, so install what you use.

Every fact about another toolkit below comes from that project’s own README or Anthropic’s documentation, read on 29 September 2026, with the link next to it. Counts and licences change with every release, so treat the numbers as a snapshot and check the linked page before you install anything.

Who each one is for

The Boundless Stack is for the founder, not the codebase. It is a set of Claude Code skills that turn Claude into a structured startup advisor; each skill embeds the Boundless Founder methodology, enforcing specific frameworks, question sequences and decision criteria. The skills run by stage: Foundations (founder readiness, mindset check, support mapping, routines), Validation (stress-test an idea across seven dimensions, design experiments, run interviews, scope an MVP for two-to-four-week delivery), Customer & Growth (acquisition plans, distribution-first thinking), Fundraising (pricing, unit economics, story, materials) and Scaling. Its stated principles: distribution-first, honest over encouraging, evidence over opinions, and “AI structures, humans judge.” It is in private preview, skills are free, and you need Claude Code installed (boundless-stack).

gstack is the nearest neighbour, and the one a technical founder is most likely to run next to the Stack. Its README describes a collection of Claude Code skills that “transform Claude into a virtual engineering team”, with roles for CEO, engineering manager, designer, QA lead, security officer and release engineer, across skills like /office-hours, /plan-ceo-review, /plan-eng-review, /review, /qa, /ship and /retro. It names its audience as founders and CEOs, especially technical ones, plus tech leads and staff engineers, and it is “free, MIT licensed, open source. No premium tier, no waitlist” (github.com/garrytan/gstack, read 2026-09-29). The difference from the Stack is the subject: gstack reviews your plan and your code; the Stack interrogates your idea, your customers and your raise.

Superpowers is for engineering discipline. Its README calls it “a complete software development methodology for your coding agents, built on top of a set of composable skills and some initial instructions”, with 16 skills across testing, debugging, collaboration and meta, emphasising test-driven development, “systematic over ad-hoc” and “evidence over claims”. It installs as a plugin on Claude Code and 17-plus other platforms, under MIT (github.com/obra/superpowers, read 2026-09-29). Nothing in it is about the company.

Claude Code Templates and the Agentic Plugin Marketplace are component libraries for developers. Claude Code Templates describes itself as “ready-to-use configurations for Anthropic’s Claude Code”, aggregating more than 100 agents, commands, MCP integrations, settings, hooks and skills from many sources, installed with npx claude-code-templates@latest, MIT with each component keeping its original licence (github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates, read 2026-09-29). The wshobson marketplace lists 94 plugins, 202 agents, 184 skills, 105 commands and 16 orchestrators for architecture, languages, infrastructure, security, data, ML, docs, business and SEO, installable per plugin so that “installing a plugin loads only its components into context, not the whole marketplace” (github.com/wshobson/agents, read 2026-09-29). Both are wide; neither is a founder methodology.

Anthropic’s Claude Code Plugins Directory is the official marketplace, “a curated directory of high-quality plugins for Claude Code” holding Anthropic’s own plugins and ones from partners and the community, installed with /plugin install {name}@claude-plugins-official. Anthropic notes it “does not control what MCP servers, files, or other software are included in plugins”, and licences vary by plugin (github.com/anthropics/claude-plugins-official, read 2026-09-29). It is where to look first for general-purpose plugins; the Stack is not distributed there while it is in private preview.

How to choose

Start from the job. If the question in front of you is “should I build this, for whom, and how do I fund it”, you want skills that argue with your idea, and on this list only the Boundless Stack is built to do that. If the question is “how do I ship this well”, gstack and Superpowers are built for that, and a technical founder can reasonably run one of them beside the Stack. If you need a specific integration or a language expert, the marketplaces have the volume.

Two things from Anthropic’s plugin documentation are worth keeping in mind whichever you pick. First, skills, subagents, hooks and MCP servers all work on their own; a plugin is a way to package several as one unit. Second, an enabled plugin is part of every session, and “the name and description are in Claude’s context on every turn”, so each toolkit you leave enabled costs a little of the room your own work needs (code.claude.com/docs/en/plugins, read 2026-09-29). Install what you use.

This is the same argument as being an AI-native founder: the edge isn’t the tool list, it’s the operating system. The Stack is one; the rest are very good parts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Boundless Stack?

The Boundless Stack is a set of Claude Code skills that turn Claude into a structured startup advisor: 59 skills, 12 commands, 9 agents and 7 hooks, plus 4 behavioural contexts and 10 methodology rules. Each skill embeds the Boundless Founder methodology, enforcing specific frameworks, question sequences and decision criteria, reads your founder profile and prior outputs, and saves a scored artifact you can hand to a coach. It is in private preview and the skills are free.

How do I use Claude Code to run a startup, not just to write code?

Give Claude Code skills about the company instead of the codebase. The Boundless Stack does this with stage-based skills: founder readiness, mindset checks and support mapping in Foundations; idea validation across seven dimensions, experiment design, customer interviews, competitor analysis, market sizing and MVP scoping in Validation; then acquisition plans, growth experiments, pricing, unit economics and fundraising materials. The skills tell you when your idea is weak. False encouragement kills startups.

What is the best AI toolkit for early-stage founders?

Match the toolkit to the job. For the founder's job, validating an idea, scoping an MVP and preparing a raise, the Boundless Stack is the only collection on this page built around those tasks. For running a technical team with more rigour, gstack gives you CEO, engineering, design, QA and security review skills. For engineering discipline, Superpowers is a full development methodology. For raw component volume, the wshobson marketplace and Claude Code Templates are far larger.

Is the Boundless Stack free?

The skills are free. The Boundless Stack page says it plainly: skills are free; community, coaching, workshops and the accelerator are the product. It is currently in private preview with a tight feedback loop with early users, so you request early access rather than install it from a public marketplace. You need Claude Code, Anthropic's coding agent, installed; Conductor is recommended as a project manager for Claude Code workspaces.

Can I use the Boundless Stack alongside gstack or Superpowers?

Yes. Claude Code loads skills, agents and hooks from every source you install, whether that is a plugin from a marketplace or a folder of skills, and nothing in the Stack, gstack or Superpowers prevents the others from being present. One caution from Anthropic's plugin docs: the name and description of every enabled skill sits in Claude's context on every turn, so a large pile of toolkits leaves less room for your work. Install what you use.
